Best Walks - Pwll Deri to Porthgain - 12 miles (19.3 km)

View of Porthgain from the top of the cliffs

Introduction to the Walk
This is the fourth day of The Pembrokeshire Coastal path and it offers 12 unbroken miles of stunning coastal scenery with very straightforward navigation.

Parking
There is a large layby on the road at Pwll Deri and a large car park at Porthgain, therefore you are able to park at either end and so walk in either direction. Due to this being a linear route, you will need to a plan to return to your car after the walk is complete, unless of course, you intend to continue along the trail further.

The Route

Stage 1
Pass the memorial stone at Pwll Deri and you will then be straight on to the coastal path. This day has very simple navigation, since you will be following the path along the coast all day, with no tricky villages or towns to try and navigation your way through.

Stage 2
Continue along the coastal passing through the Bay of Aber Bach, Aber Mawr and Abercastle before reach the very small village of Trefin.

Stage 3
Once at Trefin you will have a small section of walking along the road before retuning back to the coastal path, which you will follow into Porthgain itself, and be greeted by the stunning quay and outstanding ruins, as well as an excellent pub!
