Bestwalks is the most comprehensive resource on the internet for books on walking throughout the UK and visitor numbers are growing at a steady rate - currently around 1,000 visitors [20,000 hits] per DAY. What started as a small site to promote my own books on walking has grown into something much more. In particular it offers various other walking related information including a 'PLACES TO STAY' guide comprising hotels, bed and breakfast, self-catering and other accommodation specifically aimed at walkers looking to stay in the most popular walking areas.

Here you will see on the right hand side a panel devoted to ACCOMMODATION. Click on the link for Hotels - B and B - Self Catering -Camping to obtain the menu page from where you can select the location and type of accommodation required. There is also a direct link from individual county/area books pages to the corresponding accommodation page, e.g. www.bestwalks.com/dartmoorbooks.htm has a link to www.bestwalks.com/staydartmoor_sd.htm

The cost of a standard advertisement is £25 pa to include the following features:-

Hyperlink to your own website or page on a tourist information site. This will contain a tracking code which will enable us to monitor the number of click-throughs from the advert to your website.

For the slightly higher cost of £40 per annum a 'Premier advert' will guarantee placement above all other types of advert on the appropriate page and will include an enhanced description, 2 photos, company logo if required plus an eye-catching design. See example below. Again, the number of click-throughs will be monitored. Listings will be in order of receipt but, where there are sufficient premier adverts on a page, they will be rotated on a monthly basis.

The key benefits of advertising on Bestwalks are :-

It is far cheaper than most other media, yet still gets results because it is highly targeted towards people who visit those areas featured for a specific purpose, i.e. walking.
Bestwalks has a high Search Engine ranking for walking related keywords. As an example, search on Google UK for 'walking powys' and Bestwalks is No 7 on a list of over 1 million.*. The accommodation pages themselves are also showing high in the rankings - if you search for 'b and b forest of dean' on Google then Bestwalks is No 14 on a list of over 11 million (a crazy number but that what it says!).*
It is supported by off-line advertising in walking magazines to further increase awareness.

We aim to have monthly offers when adverts for accommodation in selected areas can be purchased at discounted prices of £15 for a standard and £30 for a premier. For February 2013 it is Cornwall - Now extended to 11 March.

The site is run by myself and a partner with the aim of providing a useful facility for walkers and, in doing so, recover some of my costs through reasonably priced, targeted, advertising. You will, therefore, receive prompt and personal attention.

ADVERTISING ON FREEWALKS

Freewalks is a major new area of the site (May 2012) which contains information and links to over 16,000 walks across the whole of Britain. The trial run suggests it will attract a large number of visitors once it has been indexed by Search Engines. Advertising opportunities are available on these pages in the form of text or banner links either on an exchange or one-way basis.
